Andrew J. Mooney
Chair
Mooney was appointed acting commissioner of Legacy Department of Community Development on November 19, 2010 and continues to serve in that capacity with the newly formed Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED). As acting commissioner, Mr. Mooney is charged with overseeing the City of Chicago’s housing, economic development, land use planning, sustainability, and historic preservation functions. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mooney served as executive director of the Chicago office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) since 1996.
Alderman Carrie Austin
Austin is the four-term alderman of the City of Chicago’s 34th ward, located on the far south side in the Pullman neighborhood. Alderman Austin has been a staunch advocate for quality public education and has overseen extensive development in her community. She chairs the Committee on Budget & Governmental Operations and co-chairs the Committee on Rules & Ethics.
Alderman Edward Burke
Burke is alderman of the City of Chicago’s 14th ward, which surrounds the neighborhoods of Brighton Park and Gage Park on the City’s southwest side. In addition to his four decades as alderman, Burke is the Dean of the Chicago City Council, Chairman of the City Council Committee on Finance, and a member of the Chicago Planning Commission.
Stephanie Neely
Neely is Chicago’s City Treasurer, responsible for investing a portfolio of roughly $7 billion. She previously honed her experience in asset management and municipal and corporate finance as a Vice President of Northern Trust Global Investments. She holds a graduate degree from the University of Chicago, and has served on several boards, including the Chicago Summer Business Institute and the Urban Prep Charter School.
Alderman Thomas Tunney
Tunney is Alderman of the City of Chicago’s 44th Ward, located on the north side in the Lakeview community. A small business owner, Tunney, who was elected Alderman in 2003, is an advocate for small business and has a platform of public service that reflects his commitment to the community. Tunney was formerly the chair of the Economic Development Committee's Small Business Subcommittee and past President of the Central Lakeview Merchants Association. Tunney chairs the City Council Committee on Economic, Capital and Technology Development.
Alexandra Holt
Alexandra Holt was appointed Budget Director by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and confirmed by the City Council on June 8, 2011. She also serves as a key member of the mayor’s Economic, Budgetary and Business Development Council.
Prior to this appointment, Alex served as the City of Chicago’s Managing Deputy Budget Director and as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Environment. Alex most recently worked as a lawyer at Baker & McKenzie where she specialized in real estate, public law and infrastructure transactions.
She received her Juris Doctorate and Master of Public Administration degrees from the University of Chicago, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Texas at Austin.
